The Vagina Monologues

Canal Cafe Theatre Show Dates: 12 Aug 2023-15 Aug 2023

“Sex has never been funnier or more poignant” (New York Times). This was just one of the reviews of the initial book, from which the play The Vagina Monologues is born. It was first staged almost 30 years ago and yet is still very relevant today. The taboo around the vagina, the sexual violence, the ignorance about the female body and sexual pleasure are all issues in our current times. The play, written by V (Eve Ensler), is based on interviews of more than 200 women from different countries, ethnicities, social classes and religions, putting into words their relationships with their own sexuality, feelings, traumas, questions, joys and pains. The Vagina Monologues is a powerful, funny, moving and courageous text that will not leave anyone indifferent. It was also the start of V-Day, a movement against all sorts of violence against women. Performed by Juliet Prew, Cara Kiri and Aurore Padenou. Directed by Lorna Dempsey.
