Edinburgh's Hottest New Comedians Come To The Gilded Saloon

15 Jun 2026

Hot Comedy has been described as a ‘bold, inclusive’ compilation night. What does that actually look like on stage for an audience member walking in for the first time?

it's bulls**t that you can't say anything anymore

It means an audience can come in and see themselves and maybe their lives reflected in the comic on stage, that they can relate to the content of the show.

There are several comedy compilation shows in Edinburgh. What makes Hot Comedy stand out from a typical mixed-bill night?

We always wanted to try and cultivate a show that aims to highlight the new tone in comedy bringing together a generation of comics disparate in age, gender, ethnicity, class and sexuality speaking to the new sensibilities of society.

The show promises not to be preachy, just funny. How do you strike that balance between creating an inclusive environment and keeping comedy at the forefront?

As Julia Louis-Dreyfus said recently it’s 'bullshit' that you can't say anything anymore, you can say what you want no subject is off the table if you’re not punching down exploiting other peoples experience. For us comic talent is the most important thing and luckily there is a lot of diverse talent.

You’ve had both established headliners and rising acts on the bill. How do you curate a line-up that reflects the full spectrum of live comedy, while still delivering a strong night of stand-up?

No one is on our bill for the wrong reasons. When booking we try and make sure we are representing society at large. Fundamentally we book people that we see have an original point of view with something to say, whether that be pro acts, semi-pro or up-and-coming new acts.

For someone deciding how to spend their Sunday night in the city. What kind of comedy experience are you hoping they leave with after Hot Comedy?

Happy! That they have heard different material with original points of view that may shed light on others’ experiences. The best comedy is rooted in true experiences.

The next Hot Comedy nights before this year's Fringe are 21st June and 19th July at The Gilded Saloon.
