The Haunting of Verity Evans

The Hope Theatre Show Dates: 25 Aug 2026-26 Aug 2026

"There's no such thing as ghosts. Ghosts are just the names we give to the memories we torture ourselves with."Two sisters meet each other after a long estrangement only to be trapped within the walls of their childhood home. Confined within the last place she would ever want to be, Ellie is forced to confront her sister's terrible anger about being left behind. Is Verity causing the haunting or is she just another victim of the strange powers at work there? The abuse and homophobia of their dead father permeates the walls of their childhood home, but the door to the outside world is locked and neither of the sisters can leave. This is a horror play about sisterhood, resentment, the after-effects of trauma and, most of all, ghosts.  Stuck inside the place she spent a lifetime running away from, Ellie is haunted by strange visitations and experiences. She cannot tell if her sister Verity is trying to reconcile with her or trying to destroy her. Verity haunts and is haunted by everything Ellie has left behind her. There are strange things moving in the dark and something monstrous is knocking on the sealed door, trying to get in.  Part of North Sapph-Fest 2026LATECOMERS MAY NOT BE ADMITTED.UNDER 18s ARE NOT PERMITTED INTO THE THEATRE FOR THIS PERFORMANCE.The performance lasts approximately 60 minutes without an interval.Refunds and exchanges are not available.
