Noise Boys, playing at the Assembly at George Square, is an exhilarating evening of tap, beatbox and music that you and your entire circle of friends can’t miss.
The ingenious combination of tap dancers and beatboxers makes for a brilliant performance which is truly like nothing you’ve ever seen.
The production is high energy fun from beginning to end. Billed as a combination of physical skills, incredible musicianship and rhythm the production features champion beatboxers, phenomenal tap dancers and street musicians from around Scotland.
The piece takes place in an Amazon delivery warehouse and shows the workers there eploring their artistic side while attempting to survive the monotonany of their jobs. The set uses large crates to create a variety of different levels and stage configurations. The lighting is well polished and there are some startlingly beautiful moments created by the simple use of light inside the crates.
The ingenious combination of tap dancers and beatboxers makes for a brilliant performance which is truly like nothing you’ve ever seen. It succeeds the most when it avoids more traditional performance modes like a man singing a song or the rap interludes. It is when it chooses to be unconventional – tap dancer vs. beat boxer, bassist vs. tap dancer – is when the production soars. All of the technical elements are highly polished and the show is an excellent intergenerational show for all the family.
