The Fringe didn’t happen at all last year, and with less than 500 shows, this year it’s at a fraction of its normal strength, but for the last couple of years theSpaceUK has been keeping the spirit of the Fringe alive both online and in-person. Since the pandemic hit they’ve organised their own streaming festival, made their debut appearance at the Brighton Fringe and account for about 18% of all the shows in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe programme this year.

We are delighted, therefore, to award theSpaceUK one of our coveted Bobby Awards in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the Fringe. Launched ten years ago, The Bobby Award recognises achievement that goes above and beyond.

Broadway Baby’s Editor-in-Chief, Richard Beck, handed over the Bobby to theSpaceUK’s Director Charles Pamment in a ceremony held at Surgeon’s Hall today.

The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
