Homophobia on the Orient Express

The Rotunda Theatre: Squeak Show Dates: 4 May 2025-5 May 2025

Traditional Caroline and frustrated Edward are both headed to Istanbul but for different reasons. After they initially bond over their love of Dame Agatha Christie, they continue to find out more about each other. They discuss Hercule Poirot’s fabulous moustache, debate pronoun etiquette, and consider situations that force LGBTQ+ people back into 'the closet.' Eventually, their inhibitions are challenged and the play climaxes in the disclosure of secrets and a heart-breaking confession. Homophobia on the Orient Express is the first play written and produced by Alex Scarrott which debuted at The Actors Theatre on the 11 & 12 May as part of Brighton Fringe Festival 2023. The play features Alex Scarrott as Edward and Tiffany Louise Clark as Caroline. Tickets are available through the Brighton Fringe website.
