John Kitchen brings to St Andrew's and St George's West Church a stunning new programme of lesser-known French music, 1680-1780, featuring a suite by Louis XIV's petite merveille, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, who was born exactly 350 years ago. The programme includes Jean-Franois Tapray's virtuosic variations on Rameau's celebrated dance, Les Sauvages, and a selection of characteristic pieces by Forqueray and Duphly. As St Cecilia's Hall is currently closed for redevelopment, John Kitchen will play a double-manual harpsichord by Bill Bright, modelled on a Russell Collection instrument, and recently restored by William Hendry.
