Emballage refers to Tadeusz Kantors concept of wrapping, a utilitarian action taken from the most mundane reality of everyday life. This outcome of an imaginative reworking of the Richard Demarco Archive is supported by Leeds Beckett Universitys PhD research programme. The piece is informed by the work of Joseph Beuys, Marina Abramovic, Rose Finn-Kelcey and Bobby Baker, while Shakespeares Macbeth and the autobiographical, archival narratives of the performers and the audience participants are explored. Audience members are encouraged to participate in the performance-installation, to navigate the spaces as they wish and to share memories from their subjective archives.
