Politicians tell us that cutting benefits will motivate the unemployed to find work. Theyre wrong " few unemployed people lack motivation. For the majority, unemployment is unpleasant, regardless of how much money the state gives them. Is it time we rethought the role of benefits " and distinguished between different groups of those unemployed?
