Broadway Baby talks to the young talent behind The Wolves of Willoughby Chase.
We are just starting out on the acting road – we’re 12 and 13 year olds but we think we have something to entertain people who come to the Fringe.
Tell us about your show
A thrilling adventure set in a strange past where two brave girls battle ferocious wolves, snowy wastelands and their evil guardian, in Joan Aiken's classic tale. Evocative music, talented young actors and a wonderful script.
Why did you decide to take your show to Space UK this year?
We may not be well known and we’re kids, but we are passionate about theatre and want to show as many people as we can what we do. The Fringe will be the one huge adventure and so we thought we’d bring a big adventure like Wolves with us.
What makes your show unique amongst the thousands of others at the festival?
We are just starting out on the acting road – we’re 12 and 13 year olds but we think we have something to entertain people who come to the Fringe. It’s tough as there are lots of talented performers who will be throwing everything they’ve got at their shows. We intend to do the same and our show will tell a magical and enthralling story, using music, movement and above all desire and excitement that our young actors have in bucket loads.
What’s the main thing you want to get out of the festival this year?
We want to be able to say we have added something to the Fringe. Even if just a few people see our show then we want them to remember that the kids did all right. You earn respect and we are out to try and get some by giving an audience 70 minutes of cracking entertainment.
Can you tell us a bit about your company’s background?
We are a school where we learn, play sport, create, argue (sometimes!), push each other to new heights and perform! Drama is central to school life and so we thought Edinburgh was a challenge too good to miss.
