What do people need to know about you?
This is not a 'how to be happy' guide
I won last year's Best International Spoken Word Show Award (PBH). Currently aged 23, I have performed poetry in two languages, on four continents, and at over 200 events. I run spoken-word nights, poetry workshops and am part of spoken-word collective Loud Poets. I also study and research happiness.
What are you up to this Fringe?
I'm premiering my new show If You're Happy and You Know It – Take This Survey based on my TED talk about the science of happiness. The show includes stories, studies and stupidity about finding happiness in strange and scientific places. This is not a 'how to be happy' guide but a funny, warm and 'wow'-inducing show full of personal anecdotes from talking to strangers about happiness and trying to live according to happiness research for a year. A show to make you laugh, smile, and think about how you might laugh and smile some more in your life.
“Wit, warmth and wisdom aplenty” - The Scotsman
I'm also part of the show Loud Poets, a collaboration of some of the best, funniest and most heart-wrenching in spoken word set to live music. On every night of the Fringe, 9 pm, Scottish Storytelling Centre.
What else are you going to see?
Lots of spoken word! Looks like a great lineup of poets this year. Especially looking forward to Sara Hirsch's How Was It For You.
What is your favourite word?
Solidarity.
