Annie McGrath is performing at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe with her twin, Jack Barry. Having spoken to Jack already we thought it was only fair to get Annie’s side of things. So Martin Walker emailed a short set of questions - and received the following answers.
I started performing comedy at Leeds in the University's sketch comedy group, the Leeds Tealights. I don't know why I do it. We do it cos we love it…(?)
Tell us about your 2014 Edinburgh Fringe show.
“It is called Twins and it is a low energy sketch comedy show which we are accused of underselling. We are told it has 'offbeat charm'. I am in it and so is Jack Barry.”
Why did you choose to perform as part of Laughing Horse?
“Like all up-and-coming, hotly tipped, almost successful comedians, we don't have enough money to perform in a paid venue.”
Why did you get into performing comedy and how did you get started?
“I started performing comedy at Leeds in the University's sketch comedy group, the Leeds Tealights. I don't know why I do it. We do it cos we love it…(?)”
Tell us your best and worst experiences as a comedian.
“Best experiences: People laughing
“Worst experiences: Having to carry a suitcase of props to work with me.”
If you were curating a stand up show for television, who would be your guests?
“Some of my funniest pals: Mae Martin, Lou Sanders, Ellie White, Lolly Adefope, Natasia Demetriou.
“I am massively sexist #allmenarepigs"
