A walk in a Central London Park to celebrate the abundance of Winter.
We'll be moving slowly, identifying plants and fungi, sharing their stories, and speaking about the broader themes surrounding foraging.
We might chat about:
"How to look" for plants/mushrooms. This includes teaching basic plant/fungal taxonomy and identification skills, focussing on a few key families. The ecological roles of plants/fungi that we are looking at, including broader discussions about different ecosystems and how they function.Traditional plant and mushroom folklore. This might include a few longer stories.Flavour profiles and recipes for wild foods.Identifying and appreciating poisonous species.Traditional medicinal uses of plants and fungi, and how to make basic medicinal preparations. Foraging laws.Where foraging sits in conversations about sustainability and land politics. The importance of urban green spaces and what we can do to advocate for them.
There will also be space for quiet, mindful appreciation of the land.
Rights For Weeds will provide wild snacks and hot drinks.
