The Playhouse at Abrons Arts Center, a wing of the 122-year-old Henry Street Settlement, turns 100 this year, and it holds a rich history of artistic experimentation. In his new work, "Settlement House," Mr. Rawls mines the building's past over the course of two four-hour performances, creating a series of site-specific "interventions" that invoke daylong pageants from an earlier era. Audience members, free to roam, can come and go as they please.
