Toward the end of her 30-year tenure at New York City Ballet, the eminent ballerina Wendy Whelan branched out on her own, commissioning four contemporary choreographers to create new works for her. The resulting suite of duets - by Kyle Abraham, Joshua Beamish, Brian Brooks and Alejandro Cerrudo, who double as her dance partners - has been touring the country and, at long last, makes its New York City debut. In "Restless Creature," Ms. Whelan appears at once transformed and like the avidly curious artist her admirers know and love.
