War of the Worlds: The Panic Broadcast
  • Edinburgh Fringe

Seven actors perform 40 roles in this radio show adaptation of HG Wellss classic sci-fi thriller about a Martian invasion of Earth. In 1938, Orson Welles dramatised the story in an infamous broadcast that terrified Americans, who mistook the radio program for an actual news report. Using authentic period commercials and live sound effects, this performance recreates the real-life events that rocked a nation, while paying homage to radios golden age.
