Virago: a story about social injustice with as much relevance today as in Victorian Wales. Descended from Irish immigrants fleeing the potato famine, Minnie McGuire, the most arrested woman in Victorian Wales, was a victim of poverty in a period of extreme hardship. Convicted as a teenage prostitute, dependent on alcohol, she notched up over 100 court appearances for lewd behaviour, amongst other things. Our piece explores Minnie's life in an engaging, funny and sad way and fills in the gaps. Alongside original music by Welsh singer/songwriter Lorraine King, choreographer Sue Lewis brings you an entertaining theatre experience.
