Trail of Tears is the story of the Cherokee Tribe in the Smoky Mountains, USA and their struggle against their forced removal from their homeland. The University of South Carolina Upstate stands on the unceded land of the Cherokee people.
They are producing this play to honor those people who were forced from their native lands by white colonists, politicians, and scholars. This historical drama was written for young audiences but is enjoyable for all as the Chosen One valiantly fights to save his people.
