Everywhere we look, the police continue to kill and harm working class communities with inpunity.

We are often told that the police exist to keep us safe, to protect us from murderers and rapists. But what about when the police are the murderers and the rapists?

How do working class communities racialised as "non-White" support each other as the police murder our loved ones and target us?

On 27th June, this year, 17 year old Nahel Merzouk was shot and killed by a police officer in Nanterre, a working class suburb in France. His senseless murder was caught on camera and triggered uprisings across France. It mirrored the uprisings that followed the death of George Floyd in the US, as well as Mark Duggan in the UK.

Join us for a conversation with groups organising against police violence in England and France. We will be hearing about their campaigns for justice and discussing how to build solidarity between anti-police struggles, as well as sustain abolitionist resistance across borders.

This event organised by Justice 4 Nahel London, Black Lives Matter UK, Abolitionist Futures, LCAPSV (London Campaign Against Police and State Violence), and others.

Simultaneous French and English interpretation will be available throughout the event.

After registering for this event, you will receive a Zoom joining link at the email you signed up with. Please let us know via e-mail if you have any additional access requests.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.
