Tom Wrigglesworth's Nightmare Dream Wedding

Starting with a video of him in distress in the worst hotel room ever, Tom Wrigglesworth spends an entertaining hour spinning us a complex yarn about how his wedding day came to end up in that grotty Las Vegas dive. With a gentle, nervous energy, he exudes niceness as he interacts with the audience, relaxing latecomers and advising us to shed heavy outer garments in yet another hot and sticky Fringe venue. After that it's straight into finding out who in the crowd is currently engaged then it's on with his own enchanting tale of his recent path to marriage. This convoluted story takes in a lot of twists and turns, including being in the audience of a Jeremy Kyle show and making a friend there – Lulu – who stars in the rest of the tale and who turns out to be a bit special. She is nicely portrayed on stage, and we very much laugh along with her and not at her. With lots of clever word-play, observational comedy and unexpected gags along the way, this is a shaggy-dog story that has us barking with laughter. Sit back and enjoy the journey – you're in for a great hour of comedy from one of the funniest and friendliest acts you'll see at the Fringe this year.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.

The Blurb

Chortle best show, Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee. Getting to the church on-time should be straightforward. Unless you're embroiled in an ordeal you knew nothing about until you awoke. 'Magical storytelling... hysterical' ***** (Time Out). www.tomwrigglesworth.co.uk
