Playwright Winsome Pinnock gives a compelling voice to the enslaved woman who was the the first person to be accused of witchcraft during the infamous Salem Witch Trials of 1692. Relegated to the sidelines of history in Arthur Millers Crucible, Tituba is resurrected with complexity and humanity. A stranger and perhaps truer story of the events that led to her confessions and the havoc they caused. Contextualising cultural norms of the time and asking difficult questions, Tituba invites her audience to confront the horrors of the past with humour and compassion. Performed by Faith Abongo.
