The Writers' Bloc
  • Brighton Fringe

Soviet Russia, 1937. Deflecting public attention away from his deadly purges, Joseph Stalin commissions a great book to be written. Five great writers are placed in a room with an infinite supply of vodka, cigarettes and fear. For each writer it is their last chance, and every word is loaded.A fictional thriller based on the works of Yevgeny Zamyatin ('We'), Mikhail Bulgakov ('The Master and Magherita'), and Boris Pasternak ('Dr Zhivago'), The Writers Bloc mixes a tense blend of violence, comedy and physical theatre.Written by Luke Ofield, produced by Unmasked Theatre (Trojan Women).
