The Tim and Pat Show

Tim Shishodia and Pat Cahill make up The Tim and Pat Show, a comedy double act proving itself to be a real highlight of the Free Fringe.

The duo label themselves as being absurdists and this certainly becomes apparent as they start the show by ending it. The audience seemed a little bemused as a soundtrack of applause came on and the comedians jumped onto the stage with bouquets of flowers, thanking the audience for requesting an encore. All of the comedy in the show was very absurd, but the audience soon eased into it and the laughter never stopped. Tim took to the stage first, with a story opening with the intriguing line ‘I saw a cat once.’ Though both comedians filled the show with corny lines, the venue was packed and the audience loved them. We were then launched into a game show and two audience members were selected to play a game in which the ‘prize is winning.’ After that, Pat took his turn to present his stand-up, which took a completely different style to Tim’s, but had just as many laughs.

This show definitely suits a very particular type of humour, as the jokes range from slightly strange to completely absurd. There may be better comedians in Edinburgh just now, but this two are putting on a free show, and it is definitely worth a watch.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.
