BANTER JAR is a one-woman play about growing up. About sex, self-harm, last days of school. About thinking things for the first time: Thinking that you might get spotted and become the next Beyonc, while busking in Coventry town centre. Thinking you should kill yourself like your next-door neighbour did. Thinking&why is it called taking a dump when you're leaving it? Hannah is finishing school and about to go away to college, so there's one last summer holiday to seal the deal on childhood. A summer for freedom, falling in love, and then for working out how to love that person when their demons keep telling you to f*** off. Why is it always the kindest people that're the saddest? Directed by Chris Larner, (Fringe First Award Winner with An Instinct For Kindness, RADA graduate, Director, Writer, Composer, Theatrical wizard). Contains music and singing, talk on sex, self-harm, suicide and mental health issues. Running time is approx. 45mins. "Cried and laughed. I definitely took away lots, and think the world would too - relevant as fuck." "Has made me think about how much mental health illness manifests amongst daily life. It made it feel normal and common place&because it is. The single mum ting got me a bit." "It lifted me no end. Brave and very well paced"
