Tang Xianzu's work is brought to life in this stunning traditional Chinese Kunqu opera version of his most famous play The Peony Pavilion, which reveals the romantic yearnings and afflictions of love endured by the young of China's feudalistic society. Tang Xianzu is China's most famous and well-respected dramatist. The Zhejiang Kunqu Opera Troupe has a prestigious reputation which spans over six decades, and now the world-renowned opera company performs their Edinburgh debut.
