On February 22nd 1952, 50 strangers gathered in the vaults of BBC Stoke to hear a groundbreaking new comedy act. Umami were unheard of at the time but amongst the crowd were a 7-year-old John Cleese, the entire cast of the Goon Show and a starry-eyed Vladimir Putin. What they heard that night changed their lives forever as they listened to the most influential hour of radio comedy ever produced. Unfortunately, BBC Stoke forgot to record the performance so it has only been whispered about in comedy circles ever since. Until now.
