In 1628, the new flagship of the Dutch East India Company ran aground on the Abrolhos Islands off West Coast Australia. Nearly 300 people were marooned on a tiny, bleak spit of corral in the middle of an unforgiving ocean. Abandoned by their leaders and left for dead, a cabal of blood-thirsty mutineers seizes control and enforces a reign of terror on the survivors. The Graveyard is a series of darkly comic vignettes inspired by the sheer bloody madness of one of the worst horror stories in maritime history; the wreck of the ship Batavia.
