In the mid-80s, at 6 months old, my grandparents became my legal guardians. They showered me with love, but being guided through life by two 70 year olds with no understanding of modern living was a mixture of confusion and embarrassment. I had to take advice, navigate school and grow into a man from a generation who were clearly not up to date with the 90s trends of the internet, fashion and modern cooking. If I was ever going to have a girlfriend, my grandparents' thrifty car choice, mannerisms and "alternative solutions" were certainly not helpful!
