Trgovite Strays explores a dark chapter in Romania's history through the perspective of a young soldier's letters to his mother. Labelled as an 'enemy of the state', the soldier - an immigrant poet - is sent to military re-education alongside criminals. Set against the backdrop of Communist oppression, censorship, and military abuse, Trgovite Strays unveils the resilience of those who lived through it.Inspired by the real experiences of the writer's father, this biographical piece blends poetry, video, and movement to highlight the power of art in times of hopelessness - and the need to remember the past when fighting for a better future. Following a sold-out debut run at Mountview's VIEW Festival 2024, Trgovite Strays returns in full force to The Hope Theatre this summer as part of Camden Fringe. LATECOMERS MAY NOT BE ADMITTED.
