Tales of the Mother tongue
  • Brighton Fringe

Morocco's past colonisation by its European invaders meant stories and tales of the old Morocco were unwritten. Writing and speaking in Berber's traditional languages, for many years was forbidden. But what the French could not help was the storytelling that would happen from generation to generation... a history recited through memory. A history mainly told through the words of women. A poetic merging of film, performance and live painting.
