Cape Towns renowned CAFDA Youth Dance Co. returns to the Fringe this season with their follow-up to last years Step into Africa.
These young dancers have a vibrancy that can not be explained, but needs to be witnessed. Their technique is decent, but it is the charisma that lures the audience in. Their energy is high and their passion for dance is written all over their faces. This proves to be an absolute delight when compared to the countless dance companies I have seen at this years festival who have spectacular technique, but no love for their work to match.
A particular highlight is a the second to last piece in which these dancers demonstrate their proficiency in everything from jazz to traditional African dance and even some Spanish-styled flamenco, without making the number look incoherent and messy. Hopefully well see them back next year with Step into Africa 3.
