In 1735, having left Handel's opera orchestra, Francesco Barsanti settled in Edinburgh, becoming active with the Edinburgh Musical Society. Gerry McDonald (recorder) and John Kitchen (harpsichord) contrast him with his Italian colleagues, Geminiani, Sammartini, Veracini and Castrucci and of course the great Handel himself. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society.
