Blanche, aged 13, travels from a village in Cameroon to the streets of Paris where she develops an obsession with Jane Austen. Blanche escapes her life as a stateless child through the television screen where she can disappear into the world of Georgian England. The words of Jane Austen become Blanche's new obsession and a means to transcend her own life.
