Maybe it was the accidental bang on the forehead he gave himself before coming on stage, maybe it was the sparse Sunday night crowd, or maybe it was the higher than usual quota of front row nutters, but this particular show didn't really come together for Sean as I'm sure it could have.Starting with a few topical gags about recent news stories, he warmed the audience up nicely with his own brand of laid back chat and banter. His main material about him getting older elasticated trousers, doctor's finger up the bum, putting on weight, and 'ageing sex' had a sprinkling of good material throughout, but didn't really set the house on fire. It's a well-worn comedy furrow, and Sean didn't uncover anything new to say on the topic. He acknowledged at times that he was struggling, but loyalty and warmth from long-time fans in the audience carried him through the sticky moments, and we were left with a show that hinted at the probability of better to come.
