Screenwriting Workshop with UK Agent - all proceeds to mutual aid
  • UK Regional & Tours

Are you a screenwriter looking to build some new skills? An aspiring storyteller looking for somewhere to start? Or a writer looking for some business support or help finding an agent? You're in the right place!

This exclusive, limited workshop series for screenwriters is going to be run by me for small groups over zoom. We'll focus on three core skills - pitching stories, editing your own work, and business skills - with each workshop focusing on one skill in particular. We'll take our time, have plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions about your specific experience, and I'll be offering some of my best knowledge and resources for you to take forward. This is an extremely practical, hands-on workshop and you get as much as you put in, so come armed with ideas, a notebook, and an eagerness to learn.

I'm an agent with over 5 years' experience in representation, and nearly 10 years working in the industry. I started out in development and production and worked on multi-million dollar television series and independent films before moving into representation, and since being an agent I've contributed to books, articles, panels, competitions, and even University courses with my advice on the business. Every penny of the proceeds from these workshops will be going directly to mutual aid and none will go into my pocket. If these workshops prove to be overselling, wildly popular events, I will consider running more workshops but I will always do so with raising money for good causes in mind and never for profit.

This is a small-scale, high impact event with limited numbers, to allow for as much practical learning as possible. Limited low income tickets are available. Please only to book this ticket option if it reflects your circumstances. Im volunteering my time to raise money for a loved one to access life-saving gender affirming care, 100% of the ticket price will be going to the fundraiser. If you want to do a one-on-one session with me to discuss your career more specifically, please contact me (via the Outsavvy contact system) to set this up - all proceeds from any other paid sessions will also go to the fundraiser.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
