Strangely, apart from the Military Tattoo, there is not much piping in Edinburgh during the Festival. A few years ago the Royal Scottish Pipers Society were asked to fill this gap. A programme of popular marches, strathspeys and reels, as well as jigs and hornpipes, contrasted with more serious piping. Includes some competition pieces, new compositions, and a piobaireachd, the classical music of the pipes, being played by groups or solo. Judy Barker will sing a few Scottish songs, accompanying herself on the small pipes. You will be invited to meet the pipers after the performance.
