Described by the New York Post as a phenomenon, three-time Grammy Award-winning violinist Hilary Hahn combines her musicality and technical prowess with a commitment to break down the barriers surrounding classical music.
She performs two solos in this concert, starting with the virtuoso showpiece Carmen Fantasy by Pablo Sarasate. Inspired by themes of Georges Bizets opera, Carmen Fantasy features an adaptation of the Aragonaise, the aria Habanera, an interlude, Seguidilla (an old Spanish folksong) and the Gypsy Dance.
Then, Hahn performs the Violin Concerto by Alberto Ginastera, one of Argentinas most celebrated composers. Finally, Thierry Fischer conducts the internationally renowned So Paulo Symphony Orchestra in Richard Strausss sublime Alpine Symphony, which structurally emulates a mountain climb in the Bavarian Alps.
