The heritage of comedy is a troubled one - littered with the shells of those whose genius is inextricably linked with struggles with mental health. From Spike Milligan to Peter Sellers, Tony Hancock to Marty Feldman, Kenneth Williams to Robin Williams, their comedy pushed boundaries while they struggled in their private life.
From sectioning to suicide, this event explores the genius and instability of some of our favourite comedy legends, looking at changing attitudes to mental health language and treatment, and the challenges of dealing with conditions while in the public gaze.
The panel will feature acclaimed comedy historian Robert Ross, film journalist Robert JE Simpson, and comedian and actor Tony Slattery.
