This vocally formidable and charismatic German bass has sung 22 roles with the Metropolitan Opera since his 1992 debut. This season he appears as Banquo in Verdi's "Macbeth" and Sarastro in Mozart's "The Magic Flute." On Sunday, though, he gives his first solo recital at the house, accompanied by the pianist Camillo Radicke. The program offers works by Beethoven, Dvorak, Mussorgsky and Quilter.
