Queer House Party - III Years On
  • London Fringe

We feel unbelievably EMOTIONAL because its been three years of Queer House Party.

Three years of big beats, banners, bad bxtches, and bringing queer chaos and liberatory energy to you all -non-fucking-stop. So much has changed, but one thing has remained - our sense of pride and joy for the space we have created together with all of you, our legendary QHP community.

From the first zoom sesh on the eve of lockdown, streamed live from our rundown and overpriced queer houses hare in New Cross with no budget and no idea what we were doing - we had no idea that Queer House Party could be what it is today.

For those of you that are new here - we created Queer House Party in response to Covid-19 while working together at The Outside Project or in other frontline roles. QHP was born as an online digital party to offer a sense of community for us all, a space to hopefully remind ourselves that we are all out there and that one day, we would all dance again together - which we really have.

Weve held well over 100 parties and raised tens of thousands of pounds for different movements and organisations. Weve platformed hundreds of queer performers, DJd countless demos, played in some of our favorite venues, and worked alongside our heroes! Weve played international gigs, been on tour, and most of all, we have built a community we are so unbelievably proud to call Queer House Party.

We couldnt have grown, exploded, or done any of this without all of you! We want to thank everyone who has ever logged in, attended, worked, or supported us in any way.

Three years is a huge milestone for us, and we have decided to take a little low-key break from throwing our own parties to focus on our intentions, dreams, politics, and how we live them as a party - which means big boi things on our horizons!

Grassroots organising has always been our lives, and we want to take some time to consider what it means to be Queer House Party in this time of political unrest and queer hatred from the government.

Though, of course, were not going anywhere without one sneaky anniversary celebration!

Tickets for our legends-only party at The Yard on March 24th will be going out EXCLUSIVELY to our newsletter crew as a big huge THANK YOU, and we expect them to sell out RAPID! If youre not already on our list please sign up through the link in our bio.

Expect intimate revelry with just the 5 of us. Hosts and gogo extraordinaire Liv and Taali and ur old favs selectors Harry, passer, and Watcha!

From all at QHP - see you at the front left by the speaker, baby!

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
