UK Poetry Slam Champion Tyrone Lewis teams up with Writer and Director Kayla Martell Feldman to bring you PROCESS, a monthly Spoken Word night featuring some of the most exciting acts across the scene.
After a brief hiatus, Process is BACK! We've completed our Sub Zero era, and are now kicking off our Hackney Showroom era. With a brand spanking new venue, new timings, and a new ticketing platform, all this change might be a little overwhelming but don't fret! We're still Kayla and Tyrone, bringing you the same flavour of chaotic bestie energy you've loved these past 28 months. Our comeback night includes our regular open mic (sign up on the door, poets selected at random) plus a feature set from the one and only Lalah-Simone Springer!
Lalah-Simone Springer (she/they) is a working class poet and speculative fiction writer from Dagenham, Essex. Lalahs debut poetry collection An Aviary of Common Birds was published by Broken Sleep Books in August 2023, alongside their collaborative spoken word album, Cyclical Music. Lalah was long-listed for the Merky New Writers Prize in 2021 and has been published on the ANTHEMS podcast, Ink, Sweat & Tears, Onyx Magazine and more.
In 2024 Lalahs book tour and open mic event Common Birds Tour went to Housmans Bookshop, The Common Press, The Chestnut Tree (Melbourne, Australia) and more. Highlights from this year include a performance at Nike Well Festival London, and performing alongside Soul Sanctuary Gospel Choir in central London. Previous collaborations as a performance artist have been staged at The Barbican, Whitechapel Gallery, Folkestone Fringe and Almanac Project Space.

Accessibility at Hackney Showroom:
Hackney showroom is wheelchair accessible and has step-free access throughout
the whole venue.
The bar height is 74cm.
None of the doors are power-assisted.
Doors all have overhead soft door closers.
The front door is 130cm wide and quite heavy, opening inwards. Inner doors are 85cm wide.Toilets
There are two gender neutral toilets (one of which is wheelchair accessible), which come with a toilet bin and free period products.
The wheelchair accessible toilet has a 100cm-width door which is outward opening. It is access equipped, with 4 rails, a full-length lower mirror and a raised toilet seat which is 48cm high. The sink is 82cm high.Seating

Unfortunately we are unable to provide a BSL interpreter at our events. Blind/Visually Impaired Access
Kayla (host) is trained to safely act as a sighted guide and to provide audio description for anyone who needs it.
We can also arrange for someone to meet you at the nearest station or bus stop if needed - just let us know in advance.
Guide dogs are always welcome in the space.Sensory and Quiet Space
The performance space has colourful lights but no strobe lights.
Stimming is welcome in the space, as is wearing headphones or earplugs, or playing with fidget toys. We recognise and respect that active listening looks different on everyone.
The foyer can be used as a quiet space until 8pm, after which we have access to a seperate room that can also be used as a secondary breakout and quiet space.
