Sylvain mard's Rhapsodie is a performance event for 20 dancers inspired by the ritual of dance. Responding to the pandemic, the Montreal-based choreographer created Prelude #1 " The Circle and Prelude #2 " The Square, a site-specific diptych using current constraints to explore the essence of Rhapsodie, now deeply shaken. 20 intertwined, dancing bodies now avoid coming into physical contact. As a human invention, the square is a symbol of a fixed, balanced world. The square suggests more regulated, more orderly behavior than the circle, even if the two forms are, in a way, complementary.
