This is one of those shows that just shouldnt work. Its basically an incredibly talented group of actor-musician clowns being silly for just over an hour. But it does work - no sooner had I tried to take the adult high ground I found myself giggling to the point of incontinence along with the primary school children around me. But its not just a kids show either it actually has some very, very touching moments that can be appreciated by all the family.There is no discernable plot, but the characters are clear and a world where you are able to laugh at everything is quickly and expertly created. Each performer demonstrates a huge number of skills inside a very impressive set and some of the circus skills demonstrated were some of the most impressive Ive ever seen in Edinburgh.Les Argonautes are an amazing company from Belgium who according to their programme search for the most winding path between two straight lines and create circus where movement is king and speech sleeps. Id have to agree that they more than achieved this weird, non?In a city full of artists trying to work out what is good and what isnt, Les Argonautes are streets ahead combining passion, enthusiasm, talent with creative anarchy to create a truly memorable experience.Highly recommended.
