In Papaya, the illusion of the West is bloodied with false promises and red wine. Recent migrs, a maid and her husband, experience their new lives in limbo. Adrift and muted, she is victim to the sexual advances of her employer, while counsel to his outspoken wife who suspects her husband's infidelity. Seeing herself in the cracked reflection of her married employers, the maid reflects on the burlesque of her new life. Meanwhile, memories of her past grow stronger with their distance and she cannot help but look back to find a future for herself.
