Oriental Fairy Tales: Wild Zebra (Symphonic Excerpts)
  • Edinburgh Fringe

This is a performance of the score from the fantasy dance-drama Wild Zebra, showcasing the accomplishments of a troupe of young Chinese performers (8-12 years old). It was created by Zhang Jigang, deputy director and choreographer of the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. To gain immortality, the Black Bear queen needs a cloak made from zebra hides. To enable her beloved Wild Zebra to escape, Zebra Girl sacrifices her life. As the drama builds to a crescendo, the wild beasts howl in accompaniment.
