Within the backdrop of his paintings, acclaimed Scottish artist Simon Laurie discusses the inspiration behind his four-week exhibition of recent work at The Scottish Arts Club, and the journey to the realisation of the themes depicted through abstract, still life and landscapes. Laurie's paintings are inspired by everyday objects and the ever-changing Scottish and Mediterranean landscape. They combine purity and formalism with avibrant colour palette, giving his work a rich, decorative quality which belies a greater complexity; anapproach whichis the culmination of several decades at his craft.
