Sonic Makeup Production presents D Unplugged at The Glory

Come to The Glory for a special one-off unplugged session with queer Irish pop star D.

Come and experience D like you've never seen her before - an intimate unplugged set live at The Glory featuring all of d's hits plus some extra, never heard before surprises thrown in

Bray native D has always been a self proclaimed singer and songwriter of pop music.

She self released her debut EP 'Conversations' back in February 2017 and garnered rave reviews for its mix of electro pop, tropical pop and retro flourishes.

Singles 'Different' and 'Feed You Lies' received acclaim from publications both at home and abroad such as Hot Press, The Irish Times, Riff, Paste Magazine as well as the cream of Irish bloggers such as Nialler9 and The Last Mixed Tape. Both Hot Press and The Last Mixed Tape also named her as a rising star to watch.

Since then D has been playlisted on RTE Radio 1, 2FM, Today FM and numerous Spotify playlist including Fresh Finds and New Pop Revolution with singles such as Roots and The Feeling. In 2020, D teamed up with songwriter Luke Foley to create indie pop duo Scenes From A Break and their debut single Silly Little Games was met with universal praise upon release. She has also written for television and theatre including original music for BBC's Nova Jones and Xnthony's musical Confirmation.

In 2021 D released her most successful single to date Saturday to date - a cathartic, 80s inspired break up song which has now reached over 200, 000 streams. Her follow up single Care will form the basis of a new EP in Autumn 2022.

Immediately likeable The Irish Times

Non-ironic, unapologetic penchant for crystal clear pop Hot Press

"...one of the countrys most distinctive pop propositions." - The Thin Air

"..harkens to Annie Lennox, but also early Madonna" - Paste Magazine

Special Guest - Jack Rua (acoustic set)

"Glorious, serious songs with maximum clout" - Tony Clayton Lea, The Irish Times

Dublin based glam-pop artist Jack Rua is a unique and original talent. A classically trained vocalist and musician who blends well crafted pop music with electronic-dance and glam-rock influences, Jack has established himself as an artist who strives to differ from the norm and do things his own way.

Much like the artists he lists as his most prominent influences (David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Madonna & Prince) Jack has proven to be a sonic shapeshifter, experimenting in glam-rock and dance on 2020's mini album 'Narcissus', contemporary electro-pop on 'Isolation', and experimental hyper-pop on 2021's 'I Don't Party Enough Anymore'.

Since 2019, his music has amassed over 200,000 streams on Spotify after receiving editorial support on six occasions and has been played frequently on Irish and British radio (RTE 2FM, Spin 1038, FM104, KCLR, Red FM and BBC Introducing).

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD
The Make A Difference Trust fights HIV & AIDS one stage at a time. Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
