Not Another One
  • London Fringe

Meet Holly. Holly's a hilariously potty mouthed, working class, queer woman. She's a die hard West Ham fan by night and a person who wipes sh*t for a living by day. Does she complain much? All the time. But recently, things ain't been so good. Holly witnessed something. Last Tuesday. Something unthinkable and its only just hit her. But here she is, with you lot...singing West Ham songs, eating Lidl crisps, waiting for the last train. Whilst you wait with her, sit back and let her address the real sh*t that's going on with this world (and the transport system). Presented by the 'Not Another One' Collective, a rehearsed reading of 'Not Another One' by Ellen Jupp. The performance will be followed by a Q+A with the LGBTQ+ Mental Health and Wellbeing Charity elop. 'Not Another One' is a solo show created to spark debate, written as an urgent response to the UK's mental health crisis, exacerbated in the wake of the pandemic: 'As many as 10 million people, including 1.5 million children, are thought to need new or additional mental health support as a direct result [of the pandemic].' (Guardian, 2020). 18+ This play contains explicit language and sexual references. The content of the play includes themes of mental health, suicide, self-harm and grief. The play also contains references to suicidal methods. Due to the sensitivity of the subject matter, whilst watching the performance audience members are free to leave the auditorium and return as they wish.

Since you’re here…

… we have a small favour to ask. We don't want your money to support a hack's bar bill at Abattoir, but if you have a pound or two spare, we really encourage you to support a good cause. If this review has either helped you discover a gem or avoid a turkey, consider doing some good that will really make a difference.

You can donate to the charity of your choice, but if you're looking for inspiration, there are three charities we really like.

Mama Biashara
Kate Copstick’s charity, Mama Biashara, works with the poorest and most marginalised people in Kenya. They give grants to set up small, sustainable businesses that bring financial independence and security. That five quid you spend on a large glass of House White? They can save someone’s life with that. And the money for a pair of Air Jordans? Will take four women and their fifteen children away from a man who is raping them and into a new life with a moneymaking business for Mum and happiness for the kids.

Theatre MAD

Their UK and International grant-making strategy is based on five criteria that raise awareness, educate, and provide care and support for the most vulnerable in society. A host of fundraising events, including Bucket Collections, Late Night Cabarets, West End Eurovision, West End Bares and A West End Christmas continue to raise funds for projects both in the UK and Sub-Saharan Africa.
