Expect furiously fast-paced piping and entrancing beats as this Skye four-piece seamlessly fuses traditional Scottish folk music with electronica.
This Celtic electronic fusion band from the Isle of Skye takes its name from a recording of an elderly man speaking in Scots Gaelic about obair oidhche, meaning night work. That sample featured on the bands debut album NW in 2015, which was followed up by Air Fir an L (At Dawn of the Day) (2018) and A' Ghrian (The Sun) earlier this year.
The quartet of Ruairidh Graham, Allan MacDonald, Christopher Nicolson and Innes Strachan take haunting Gaelic songs and instruments and re-energise them with pulsing techno and house beats. Their captivating combination of thumping basslines and stirring bagpipes is sure to get the Leith Theatre crowd dancing.
