How much Charlie Chaplin really wrote the score for "Modern Times" is debatable, but the genius of his 1936 reflection on industry and the Depression is not. In the second installment of its series the Art of the Score, the Philharmonic will accompany a remastered version of the silent movie. The conductor, Timothy Brock, also provides a score for Chaplin's "Kid Auto Races at Venice" (1914), in which Chaplin's Tramp first appeared.
